The price on this adapter as compared to the genuine Canon adapter is what attracted me to this product. Even if this adapter were FREE it wouldn’t be worth paying the shipping to own it. It is so poorly made that lenses will not engage the threads for more than a single turn, or two at best, before seizing. The Canon adapter I own works flawlessly. Don’t try to save money buying this product just buy the Canon in the first place and you’ll be miles ahead.

Purchased both the canon and the Sakar barrel adapter for safety sake. Found the least cost Sakar to be better suited for use; made of metal & well designed, than the plastic version Canon charges twice as much for. I have existing lenses from other cameras and they work just fine. Focal length the same as the Nikon 5700/8700 for wide angle. So I was able to use one of my wide 1.6 lens for this mount. BTW it’s 52mm. Easy to use and handy. Not for pro use, manly for fun!

This adapter has a simple job to do, but it does it well. My A75 finally died, and I upgraded to the a570 specifically so I could continue to use my existing filters, wide angle, and telephoto adapters. All I had to purchase was this adapter ring. I had to do some minor filing to get my previous one to “click” on the first time. This one clicked on just fine without any modification.
Do you need one? That depends on your ability and budget. If you know what you’re doing and the conditions are right, this is a lightweight and low cost alternative that can get you near-DSLR quality. On the other hand, there are limitations like the flash being blocked that can be frustrating at times.

Perfect little accessory for my Canon point-and-shoot. I added adapters so the 52mm reaches my 62mm filters. Works like a charm.
Low price. First-rate quality. Couldn’t ask for more.

I got this adapter ring to go along with the 2x Digital Telephoto Professional Series Lens + DB ROTH Micro Fiber Cloth For The Canon Powershot A570, A580, A590 Digital Cameras that I got for my PowerShot A590IS. It works on the lens, my camera, and an A570IS that my friend owns. The metal it’s made of is lightweight and it matches the silver color of the A570. My only complaint is that it does not seem to fasten to the camera as securely as it should. The lens screws in and is secure, but the threading feels a little loose on the camera. It’s not going to fall of or anything like that unless you’re shaking the camera violently or giving a counter-clockwise twisting motion to the lens, but I would suggest the manufacturer try to make it so that it fastens a little more tightly.
The adapter available from Canon is significantly more expensive. Although I would suggest that the manufacturer look into the specifications and dimensions for the adapter, I wouldn’t spend the extra $15 or so on Canon’s version.
