There are many budget-friendly digital cameras available on the market today.  For beginning photographers, one good option is the Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS.

The Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS is a 10-megapixel digital camera with 3x optical zoom that is priced under $200.  Small but easy to use, the PowerShot is attractive for its simple features and straightforward options.  It runs on a lithium ion battery that lasts up to 260 shots before needing to be recharged.  The camera features a two and one half inch LCD viewfinder screen and offers both mechanical and digital image stabilization.  It also comes in a variety of colors.  Weighing in at just under five ounces, the PowerShot is a portable digital camera that provides particularly good photo quality, better than most in its class and price range.

Despite these advantages, there are some drawbacks.  When the ISO sensitivity is set above 200, then the photo quality decreases.  Also, although the setup of the camera is direct and easy to access, those with larger hands may find it difficult to press the flat buttons on the top of the camera.  For those who are looking for more than just the standard set of shooting options, the Canon PowerShot is not the right choice.

Overall, the Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS is a great pocket-size camera that offers basic features and is easy to operate.  For the price, the photo quality is very good.  It is an excellent choice for those who are new to the world of digital cameras.
