I bought this camera on the excellent recommendations from Ken Rockwell’s site, as well as the Amazon reviews. However, upon receiving it, I got the ‘Lens Error, restart camera’ error and the camera is not able to take pictures.
I might up the rating when I receive a new one – this one is heading back to Amazon.
Rating: 1 / 5
The first time I turned it on the screen lit up and the lens came out. It then immediately flashed across the screen “lens error. restart camera” and turned itself off with the lens still out. Every time I subsequently turned it on it came on for a second flashed the same message and turned off immediately. Taking the battery or memmory card out did nothing. Tech support confirmed the error was “fatal”.
Basically the thing broke in a unfixable way within seconds of it first being turned on.
If it was possible to give negative stars in this reveiw I would be.
DONT BUY THIS

I gave my son this video camera because his audio-visual class teacher recommended it. Perhaps we are not computer-savvy enough, but we’re having difficulty figuring out how to work with the camera and our PC. We do have the firewire port, which I made sure about having read the previous reviewers.
The jury’s still out. I am hoping my son’s teacher will help us figure it out. But I can say for sure that it’s not all so simple.

I did not like this camera at all. the pics are fuzy not sharp pictures. i got this camera because everybody gave 5 stars but this camera is not worth 5 stars to me. i think the kodak m1033 did a better job. but i just got the canon sx110 and there is a lots of difference on the cameras. get the sx110 for similar price you will be happier.

The camera takes great pics but the controls are so clunky, I feel like I have mittens on every time I try and adjust the settings.
